While similar, and both excellent knives, they are two different products. I ordered one and am interested to see which one I actually get. Since both are great knives, it doesn't really matter since retail on either one is $79.95.

The full size Zilla Tool performs as advertized and is actually of excellent quality! It carries two standard bits, which no other multi tool does. It has a cool flipper knife that opens fast as lightning and the spring loaded pliers are ready to rock at the flip of the ambidextrous button (there is a release button on both sides of the tool). The tool is built like a tank and near impossible to break due to is its one piece construction, unlike most multi tools which are multi piece units. The pocket carry clip makes it very nice to have ready to use at moments notice. It also comes with a sheath if you prefer to use a sheath. This is not a delicate tool, just like the name says so don't expect it to be light as a feather at 7.4 ounces.



I have tested this tool rigorously and found it to be a beast. The blade is very sharp and deploys via flipper... what other multi tool can do that? The pliers have extra large teeth in the grip and can be used to turn nuts better than most pliers. The bit driver is strong enough to bend 1/4 inch bits and not break... so no worries there. The solid black Zilla Tool is more tactical looking of the two if that is your preference and the coating holds up incredibly well and resists scratching.

Avoid this product. Avoid this manufacturer. I received my 1st bad ZillaTool in mid-October. The logo stamp in the Zytel scale was blurred and the wire cutting jaws didn't meet. I paid postage for a warranty return. I received my 1st Zilla-Tool warranty replacement 7 weeks later. The back of the blade wasn't ground to properly engage the split liner lock. I fired back a nastigram to the QA folks at CRKT requesting assurance of a good product before spending more postage for a 2nd return. On the phone, CRKT Operations Manager Patrick Gottsch told me to keep the 2nd defective Zilla-Tool and assured me he would send a quality replacement. I received a 3rd defective Zilla-Tool on 12/10/2007. One side of the cutting jaws has a broken edge. The collectible rating of NIB has a new low.

Dude, youre talking about the Zytel version of this knife. That thing is a piece of crap. This aluminum version with the AUS-8 blade is one of the best folding knives ever made. All the high end M-16's are the best folding knives Ive ever owned, but the lower ends are truly pieces of garbage. Be careful which one you spec out.

I don't know what the previous reviewer was talking about, but this knife is garbage. CRKT's website is very vague, and my research was stymied because of that, but I made the purchase anyway. First of all, this knife is made in Taiwan. The handle is some sort of plastic, and not aluminum. The "auto-lawks" feature, which is supposed to keep the blade open, makes closing the knife very awkward and dangerous to your fingers. This feature does not even engage properly unless you open the knife with a quick flick of the blade. When I open the knife in a slower fashion, the Auto-lawks feature does not work. So why do they charge so much for this knife, if it is made in Taiwan, and is plastic? Just because they give you an extra clip and torx screws does not justify the price for this inferior, and in my case, defective product.

While attending Combat Skills Training at Camp Shelby, MS, I found the M16-13SF in the PX, and purchased it. I'd like to say, that it is without a doubt the best knife (fixed or folding) that I've ever owned! The Tanto blade, LAWKS system, double flippers, multiple carry options, etc. (I could go on) are absolute genius! I used this knife in training, lost it, bought a new one, went to Afghanistan, lost it, bought yet another, and finally kept hold of it (my stupidity, not the knife, caused the loss). :-) I served for one year in Afghanistan, carried it on numerous combat convoys, and it never left my side. I opened mail, packages, MREs, cut 550 cord, and it was flawless! The one handed opening is invaluable. I'm never without my CRKT (cricket)!

A very useful, all around knife. The combo serrated edge makes cutting things like rope and cord a lot easier. It's lightweight, and comes very sharp right out of the box. The autolawks system makes it a little hard to close with one hand, but opening is a cinch. the notch at the base of the blade makes one-handed opening just a flick of the wrist. All in all, highly recommended.
