This knife is well built in my opinion. I havent had any major issues with it thus far. I like that it is small and compact. I have had to tighten the screws on the pocket clip once in the month that I have had it. No big deal. The edge is good and the locking mechanism is very adequate. It does take some practice to close it with one hand however.

"Great Knife For Every Day Carry" 2009-05-25
By Deveus (Cali, USA)
The M16-10KZ is a very well designed knife. I carry a cold steel ti-lite 6" a lot of the time, but when I want something smaller and more innocuous I carry this knife.

BLADE: The AUS 4 stainless blade features a combo edge, half straight, half serrated, and a tanto point. I'm a big fan of tantos, lots of penetrating power and stronger than a clip point. It holds an edge well, though not as well as its larger AUS 8 counterparts such as the M16-14SF(Columbia River Knife and Tool's M16-14SF Big Dog Aluminum Tanto Blade Combo Edge Knife). If you're looking for a larger blade for heavier jobs, I'd recommend the 14SF. The 10KZ, however, is a great tool to have in your back pocket for every day jobs. The thumb stud on this knife is poorly positioned in my opinion - it's difficult to get enough leverage to open the knife - however this is of little consequence because of the excellent carson flipper on the back. The flipper is easy to use, has a smooth action, and allows for lightning fast, switchblade-like opening. It also doubles as a finger guard when the knife is open, definitely one of the best design features on this folder.

LOCK: This knife features CRKT's AutoLAWKS locking mechinism, which has an extra lever that prevents the liner lock from being accidentally closed. A lot of people dislike this feature, saying it makes one-handed closing of the knife difficult, but after a little practice I've had no problem with it, closing it just as easily as any regular liner lock. The AutoLAWKS provides extra safety and I see it as a plus. It's tight and opens with a satisfying click. There is no play whatsoever. The center pivot screw is easily adjustable with a flathead screwdriver.

HANDLE: The handle shape is very well designed, fitting comfortably even in larger hands like mine despite the knife being rather small. The Zytel scales are nicely textured, preventing slippage when wet. It's also tough material - it doesn't dent or crack easily, and is more or less impervious to water, salt, etc.

CLIP: The only part I don't like about this knife is the clip. It's strong and it functions well, but it's positioned for tip-down carry, meaning you have to turn the knife over after removing it from your pocket before opening it - inconvenient.

Overall, this knife has a lot of great features that I love - the tanto point, the carson flipper, the AutoLAWKS, and the excellent handle. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tough, lightweight blade for every day use

"Smooth, Sharp, and Sexy...-1 star for the Autolawk " 2009-01-18

M16-10KZ 3in. tanto.

this is my first folding knife so obviously i have no other folding knife to compare it with. but this is what i thought about it.

the knife is sexy. good looking knife. if my goal was buy a sexy knife, then i'd be content with my purchase of this knife.

the knife is sharp. out of the box it's pretty sharp. sharpness is like a pretty girl, after awhile it becomes dull...

this knife will go dull the question is how fast. so if you're debating to buy one of those cheap, pretty 440 stainless steel knives for about [...] bucks... spend the extra $[...]. you won't be disappointed.

the knife is smooth. the knife opens really smoothly. flip that knob (that doubles as a finger guard) and the blade flips right up. before i bought this knife, i was intensely looking for a "spring assisted" knife.

well... this knife isn't "spring assisted", but i'm perfectly happy with how this knife opens, very smooth and quick.

AUTOLAWK. genius!!! until you try to close the knife.

i think the concept is pretty cool, and safe, but trying to close this knife with one hand will take some practice, especially if this is your FIRST folding knife, that just happened to have this AUTOLAWK tech.

even though this knife opens very smoothly out of the box, i wanted to open and close the knife a couple times to get myself familiar with it.

well, the opening part was easy, but the closing part takes some practice. it's a 2 step process.

step 1 is to open the lock(red lever on the back of the knife), EASY! can be done with the index finger.

step 2 is to push the inner lever(which has ridges for better grip i assume) located in the middle of the handle across to the other side of the which frees the blade to fall forward in order to close.(has proven troublesome)

i don't consider myself a "girly-mon" and no other reviewer has mention this, but my freakin thumb is SORE!!! from pushing the stupid lever across. after this 6th time i noticed a small cut(nothing deep, purely on the surface of the skin) developed from the raw skin of my thumb from pushing that lever across so many times. i don't have fat fingers so it's not like i can't push the lever, i think the problem is being able to push it aside.

the first couple of times, closing this knife with one hand was kinda awkward. but a couple of attempts later(with sore thumb and all) it was starting to get more comfortable. but even with a raised comfort level closing this knife with one hand is NOT quick. maybe it's the sore thumb.

all in all i paid $[...] for this knife, and i feel it's worth every penny.

$[...]... eh~ $[...] would consider it.

This is a well made and very good looking knife. Its action is smooth and the fit and finish are high quality. I like the Tanto shape blade and black coating. The double safety lock prevents the blade from closing unless a two step release is done.

 "overall, nice knife" 2007-06-12
By J. Linn (FLA)
it can be a little flimsy, but its a decent knife. i dont think its as strong as the gerber i had for the same price. if you dont use your knife as a screwdriver, hammer, and crowbar everyday of your life, then it will work out just fine. btw, its a damn nice looking knife.
